A Red-tailed Experience!

Getting back to telling some stories, once in a while
something cool happens, and I am able to catch
it with my photography gear. I hope to keep
NIOM busy here with something interesting
every week or two.

I was out recently with my friend and guest Thomas Vijayan
and his wonderful wife on a progam designed to
find and photograph red-tailed hawks.

We found one quickly, as this is the season!  This bird was
perched on the highway fencing, so we were a bit disappointed. Not
for long, as we were able to get out of the truck,
photograph the bird from a close range of 20 feet, and
watch it have a successful kill right at our feet!

Warning... the images below are a bit gory, so
be careful if you do not enjoy such images.

Thomas Vijayan working a good angle.
 I think I see something!
 I'm going in!
What luck, I think I got em!
 Yes. success!
 Dinner time!
 Last call!
 Burp!
That was good, now for some more!
